I could not have asked for a better start to my Class of 2014 senior portrait season than I got with Erin. We shot her session in the lovely heat of late July, but she was a trooper and looked FABULOUS the whole time thanks to the talented Amanda with Reflections DFW. Erin is very outdoorsy (she’s a camp counselor for Sky Ranch) and loves all things outside, so we went to one of my favorite natural spots for a variety of great backdrops. Erin did a fabulous job with her wardrobe, and I love the fact that we captured some different facets of her personality through her shoes – one of my favorite “prop shots” to date for sure! :) With that thick dark hair and those gorgeous eyes Erin was  a dream to photograph. I hope that your senior year is awesome Erin, thanks for letting me be a very small part of it!

Vicky was my last 2013 senior, and I couldn’t have wrapped up this year’s class on a better note! Vicky was so excited about her portrait session, I just love it when my clients are super enthusiastic. :) She had a gorgeous wardrobe to work with, and the Arts District was the perfect backdrop for the more modern look we were going for. We ended up with an absolutely perfect weather day, which made it all the more fun. Vicky is also an aspiring photographer and very involved in her church.  She is headed to Georgetown in the fall, have a fabulous freshman year Vicky!

Tori was a referral from another one of my dear 2013 seniors, and I’m so excited that they found me!  Tori’s mom really wanted something special for her senior portraits, and I’m so honored that she entrusted me with this important task.  They opted for my Uniquely {YOU} Experience, which meant that makeup artist Amanda got to come along on site with us to change up Tori’s look as we went along and touch up as needed.  So fun!  Tori and her mom were so excited about her upcoming session when we met at the consultation, I knew that I would be in for a treat.  :)  They were open to any and all of my suggestions and even let me pick through Tori’s closet to help put together outfit ideas.  When the day of the session rolled around, Tori was a breeze to photograph, she was an absolute natural in front of the camera.  We spent almost three hours hustling all over one of my favorite outdoorsy spots, and she kept a smile on her face the whole time!  Well, except when I told her not to. :P Tori is a cheerleader and volleyball player and an all-around sweet girl, and I can’t wait to see what great things are awaiting her. Best of luck Tori!

I first chatted with Alissa’s mom all the way back in the fall of 2012, so by the time April rolled around I was so excited to finally meet them in person!  I just loved reading through Alissa’s questionnaire.  She has such a unique sense of style and wanted something really simple, organic, and natural for her session. I had been kicking around the idea of shooting a floral crown for a while, and I thought it would really be a great fit for Alissa’s personality.  I was pumped that she was on board with the idea, and after talking with a photographer friend and looking around online I decided to make it myself.  It was so much fun and I was pretty pleased with how it came out.  Alissa’s bohemian Free People dress was absolutely PERFECT with it, I was in photographer heaven. :) Of course, I loved all of Alissa’s outfits, and we had a great time with some family and friends who came along to the session as well.  She has an awesome support system, that’s for sure.  Alissa is headed off to Elon University in North Carolina this fall where I have no doubt she will leave her mark.  Best of luck to you Alissa!

This was a super-special session as Jacey is the last of three children in this family and I had the pleasure of photographing all of them for their senior portraits. It’s truly such an honor when I get to develop long-term relationships with my clients and their families, and this one certainly holds a special place in my heart. :) Since Jacey is the “baby” of the family AND the only girl, I knew we would have some fun.  Jacey is a really talented actress, and I gotta say, I always love working with my theater kids. They sure make it easy!  Jacey’s mom brought the beautiful paper parasols, and they made for a really lovely backdrop to Jacey’s awesome smile.  And of course, we had to bring along the black leather chair that we used for her brothers’ sessions as well.  Jacey will be joining one of her big brothers at LSU next year, I hope that college treats you well!

Dallas senior photographer Class of 2013

I can’t believe that this school year has finally wrapped up … it seems like just yesterday I was planning some really great changes for the class of 2013 and seeing my first bookings come in. And now here we are, and what a year it has been!  As I reflect back on all of the amazing seniors I had the chance to work with, I’m just so overwhelmed with how each of them have touched my life.  What a blessing it is to be able to connect with such incredible young people while doing something I love and call it a job.  God is good!  :)  This year’s class was so diverse and so talented, I constantly found myself in awe of their accomplishments, their drive, and their servant’s hearts.  I’ve compiled a brief overview just to give you a glimpse of what I mean.  There were athletes of all sorts (cheerleaders, soccer players, swimmers, volleyball players, runners, softball players, wrestlers, and ultimate frisbee champs, to name a few), accomplished artists and musicians, both classical and modern (yes, even one with a CD on iTunes),  and talented thespians and dancers.  Across all of these activities, I worked with so many leaders - including team captains, student government, counselors and peer helpers, and youth group leaders.  This class was not only talented, but SMART too!  I’m talking about valedictorians, top 10 graduates,  and debate team champions, not to mention that this group will be attending some of the best colleges across the country.  Their hobbies include writing, reading, travel, music, art, and even a few budding photographers. :) Most importantly, this is a group who knows how to give back.  So many of them have done long term volunteer work, are active in some stellar service organizations, and have served others both here locally and across the world.  So it is with direct knowledge of how truly remarkable this 2013 class is that I can say this to each of you: You have each been abundantly blessed in your lives.  As you venture out into the world, always remember that important piece of information and continue to use those blessings to do GOOD.  I can’t wait to see what great things await you! :)

Audrey is the third beautiful girl that I have had the privilege of photographing in this family, and needless to say she was ready for her portrait on the family wall to be updated as well. :)  Audrey and I have a lot in common, we both played club soccer for the same club, and Audrey will be playing in college for Southwestern, a rival school of my very own beloved alma mater Trinity University.  I tried my best not to hold it against her, so we got along okay. :P Like all of the athletes that I worked with this year, Audrey sure cleans up well!  She had the perfect outfits for our country/rural locations, and she even brought along her soccer cleats for a few shots to wrap up the day.  Even though it took us an eternity to drive out to this spot on what must have been the worst traffic day of 2013, we lucked out with some beautiful light and really lovely weather.  Thanks for a fabulous session Audrey, and good luck at Southwestern next year, except when you are playing Trinity of course! :)

I knew from the get-go that Haylee’s session was going to be AWESOME.  I mean, she had all of her outfits chosen and ready to go by the time our consult came around, she had a really great vision on what she wanted her hair and makeup to look like and what kind of location she wanted.  She was ready to rock.  Haylee has a great “serious” look (which apparently is something she is well-known for :P ), but we got some gorgeous smiles out of her too.  I have had the pleasure of photographing a lot of cheerleaders this year with killer smiles, and Haylee was certainly no exception, I think it must be a necessity to the sport.  We lucked out with the perfect weather for our outdoorsy location, including some seriously dreamy evening light (my favorite!).  Haylee was a trooper putting up with all of my antics too, she even agreed to wear her gorgeous red heels out in the dirt for me.  Well worth it! :)  Thanks so much for a great session Haylee, best of luck at Texas State next year!

Oh my goodness, I don’t know if I have ever laughed so hard at a session as I did with Olivia and her mom.  She is such a happy easy-going girl, which made photographing her oh so easy and fun.  She opted for a vintage urban feel to her images, so we walked all over downtown McKinney, one of my favorite locations.  Olivia is a really talented softball player, a budding photographer, and a Harry Potter fan … all things that we incorporated into her session, so much fun!  She had also decided in the week or two before her session to attend UT in the fall, so we got some fun shots in my “burnt orange” (NOT rust orange) chair too.  Thank you so much for a super fun session Olivia, and I wish you all the best at UT!

Marisa was a referral from one of my 2012 seniors and my first Naaman Forest student to photograph, so it was fun to get to work with a friend of a friend and a new school too!  Marisa really wanted a mix of natural and urban images, so we wandered around downtown Plano and Breckenridge park on what ended up being a PERFECT night.  Her sweet dog Hannah even got to make her modeling debut, although I think she would have preferred to have been sleeping. :)  Marisa brought some really awesome outfits, my jaw about hit the floor when they showed me her amazing formal gown at her consult.  Not only is she absolutely gorgeous, but talented too!  Marisa will be going to UT in the fall where she will major in psychology and join their speech/debate team.  Beautiful and smart, what a killer combination. :)  Thanks for a fabulous session Marisa, and I wish you all the best in Austin in the fall!
